2023 GMC Yukon
The GMC Yukon is a family hauler dressed up in a luxury package. This large SUV has a spacious cabin with room for up to nine people, and it's even offered with a longer wheelbase, which GMC calls the Yukon XL. For the 2023 model year, the Yukon gains a new Denali Ultimate trim with even more luxury features. It also offers GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving technology. Here's a look at some of the details for the 2023 GMC Yukon.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Yukon SLE comes with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, roof-mounted side rails, black side steps, and proximity keyless entry. Stepping up to the SLT adds 20-inch wheels and a hands-free power liftgate. The AT4 is the off-road-ready Yukon. It has 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, red tow hooks, a front skid plate, and a two-speed transfer case. Step up to the Denali for upgrades in the cabin or to the Denali Ultimate for 22-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, power-retractable side steps, and air suspension.
Engine
The base engine for the SLE, SLT, and AT4 is a 5.3-liter V-8 that puts out 355 horsepower. The AT4 offers a 6.2-liter V-8 that generates 420 horsepower, and this engine comes standard with the Denali models. The Denali, SLE, and SLT offer a 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder that churns out 277 horsepower. All the Yukon's engines work with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and all but the AT4 come standard with rear-wheel drive and offer all-wheel drive as an option. The AT4 comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Performance
The V-8 engines provide the Yukon with plenty of power whether you stay in town or need to quickly get up to speed on the highway. If you plan on towing with your Yukon, the turbodiesel is the best option. Its 460 pound-feet of torque makes it capable of towing up to 8,100 pounds. The AT4 is the trim you need if you plan to take your drive off-road. The optional air suspension can give it up to two extra inches of ground clearance.
Interior
The Yukon's standard configuration has seating for eight, but with the front bench seat can make it nine. If you choose second-row captain's chairs, seating reduces to seven. The SLT has leather upholstery alongside heated and ventilated front seats. You'll get driver's seat memory settings, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats in the AT4 and above. A 10.2-inch touchscreen with Google comes standard in the Yukon. The SLT adds wireless charging and a nine-speaker stereo.
Safety Features
Every 2023 GMC Yukon comes with several advanced driver aids. It has a forward collision warning system with automatic braking, lane-keep assist, and a rearview camera. The GMC Pro Safety Package is optional for the SLE, adding a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, while the SLT and above come standard with these extra safety features. The SLT also offers adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera as an option, and the Denali offers the Advanced Technology Package. It has a digital rearview camera, Super Cruise hands-free driving technology, and rear automatic emergency braking.
