Jeep is embracing the future of electric and hybrid vehicles. Their 2025 releases will include the 2025 Jeep Gladiator 4xe, a plug-in hybrid vehicle for increased fuel efficiency and environmental consciousness. This new model pairs the classic Jeep style and performance with increasingly popular hybrid technology.
What Is a Plug-In Hybrid?
A plug-in hybrid vehicle is a type of hybrid that has a rechargeable battery which allows the car to be driven as a fully electric vehicle. A regular hybrid vehicle has an electric engine that is used in tandem with the gas engine to power the vehicle. The electric engine is powered by batteries, which are recharged through regenerative braking and internal combustion.
A plug-in hybrid’s battery can be plugged in and re-charged, so drivers have the option to drive the car in a fully electric mode. Jeep’s 4xe technology allows the Gladiator – and other plug-in hybrid models – to be driven in near-silent EV mode. And since Jeeps are made for adventure, the electric output can be adjusted to adapt to different driving conditions.
Electric-Only Range and Charging Times
While Jeep has not yet released the specs for the 2025 Gladiator 4xe, it’s expected to share the same technology as the Wrangler 4xe. If this is the case, then the Gladiator 4xe battery can fully recharge in two hours with an available Level 2 charger (240 volts). The battery can recharge in 12 hours with the included Level 1 charge (120 volts). Most public charging stations are Level 3 (400+ volts) and can charge the battery within 15-60 minutes.
The manufacturer estimates that the 2025 Wrangler 4xe has a 21-mile electric-only range, so it’s likely the 2025 Gladiator 4xe will have a similar range.
Exterior and Interior Design
The new 4xe technology does not take away from the classic Jeep style! The Gladiator has a similar body style to the classic Wrangler paired with a five-foot bed for hauling equipment for your next adventure. It’ll have removable doors and a hood so you can enjoy the fresh air while you drive, embracing the freedom that Jeep embodies.
All Gladiators come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, which drivers can use to connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for navigation and entertainment while driving. There are plenty of USB ports to keep all of your devices charged and entertainment buttons on the steering wheel for hands-free control.
