If you’d like to get outdoors to see what Dublin has to offer, check out one of their cool walking tours. Most are self-guided and don’t cost anything, so they’re a great way to entertain yourself or the whole family. Here’s a look at a few of the most popular tours in the area.

Irish Fairy Door Trail

On the Irish Fairy Door Trail, you’ll start out by grabbing a passport at the Dublin Visitor & Information Center. Once you have your passport, you can follow the guide to search for fairy doors through historic Dublin and Bridge Park. Visit 12 different businesses to find the names on the fairy doors. When you have them all, return your passport to the Visitor Center for a prize. Some of the participating businesses include Apricot Lane Boutique, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, and Dublin Toy Emporium. The fairy doors are revamped every year, so it’s always new and exciting.

Olde Towne Ghost Tour

Only offered on Saturdays in October, the Olde Town Ghost Tour will provide you with a hauntingly good time. On the tour, you’ll make stops at historic spots with lots of spooky history that will chill your bones. Beware, you may be joined by spirits that want to share their tales. Stops include a tavern that used to be a funeral home and a haunted cemetery.

You can expect the tour to take about 2 hours and span a distance of about a half-mile. While the tour isn’t recommended for children under 12, your guide will let you and your child decide if they’re up for it.

Historic Dublin Walking Tour

Take a stroll through historic Dublin, but don’t forget to pick up your walking tour guide before you head out so you can learn more about the town’s history. Many sights are located along South High Street, but you can venture off the main road to find more historic places.

Discover over 40 landmarks, each one telling a story about the area and the people who made Dublin what it is today. Some of the stops you’ll make include the intersection of Bridge Street and High Street where the townspeople used to get their water and the Dublin Bridge, which was the first bridge across the Scioto River.

Art Installation Tour

If you’re interested in art, explore some of the public art installations found around Dublin. Start out by locating the 12-foot-high stone portrait of the Native American Chief, Leatherlips. It has stone walls on two sides and is open on the top forming a cave-like structure that makes a great place to sit and watch the river. Kids will enjoy the Field of Corn exhibit. You’ll see ears of corn sticking up from the ground in rows, and with over 100 of them that are all taller than most people, it makes an interesting sight to see.
